Ibn Sina Center for E-Learning

The Ibn Sina Unit for E-Learning at the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences for Women, University of Baghdad, organized an online scientific workshop on Sunday, September 28, 2025, titled (Digital Technologies and Their Role in Preserving Digital Heritage).

Lect. Dr. Mohammed Qasim Al-Hasani from the College of Engineering at Uruk University presented the workshop.

The workshop aimed to highlight the importance of protecting historical landmarks in general, review traditional preservation methods and fundamental principles, emphasize the significance of digital technologies and the role of artificial intelligence in safeguarding such landmarks, and discuss how specialists and communities can contribute to preserving and developing cultural heritage.

The workshop covered six main themes:

  1. Definition of cultural heritage.

  2. The importance of preserving physical heritage, including historical buildings.

  3. Basic digital technologies.

  4. Practical digital techniques — documenting cities and architectural details.

  5. Global examples of digital heritage preservation.

  6. Challenges facing digital heritage protection and prospects.

This workshop contributes to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, specifically Goal 4: Quality Education and Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities.
