As part of efforts to enhance the role of women in managing climate change risks and protecting the environment, the Women’s Affairs Unit, in cooperation with the Voluntary Work Unit at the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences for Women, University of Baghdad, organized a large-scale tree-planting campaign in the college gardens on Tuesday, October 7, 2025. The campaign was held with the participation of the Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Fatima Abd Malih, along with several students, to promote environmental awareness and spread a culture of sustainability.
The campaign included planting locally suitable tree species in several gardens and pathways across the college campus.
Dean Prof. Dr. Fatima Abd Malih emphasized that this initiative is part of the college’s vision to contribute to environmental protection, provide a healthy and sustainable educational environment, and foster a spirit of volunteerism among students.
The campaign received wide participation and positive student engagement, reflecting their enthusiasm for environmental activities. It is worth noting that the college plans to organize similar campaigns regularly as part of a comprehensive environmental program aimed at making the college a model of sustainability and sound environmental practices.
