As part of the college’s ongoing programs aimed at promoting health awareness and spreading the culture of physical activity among its members, the University Psychological Counseling Unit at the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences for Women, University of Baghdad, in cooperation with the Ministry of Youth and Sports / Directorate of Studies and Development of Youth Leadership Skills, organized a workshop entitled (The Impact of Sports Culture on the Health and Social Behaviors of Youth).

The event was held on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, in the college’s Leadership Hall and was attended by faculty members, students, and individuals interested in sports affairs. The workshop was presented by Prof. Dr. Fatima Abd Malih, Dean of the College, and Ms. Suad Sabti.

During the session, Prof. Dr. Fatima highlighted the importance of sports culture as a fundamental element in promoting healthy lifestyles, emphasizing its role in preventing chronic diseases and enhancing both mental and physical well-being. She also stressed the need to instill positive behaviors associated with physical activity within the university environment and the wider community.

Ms. Suad discussed the main challenges to promoting sports culture and presented practical strategies to encourage greater participation in sports activities, sharing successful experiences and initiatives in this field.

At the conclusion of the workshop, the Dean expressed her gratitude to the attendees for their engagement. He reaffirmed that spreading sports awareness is a key pillar in achieving the college’s vision of a healthy and active society.

This workshop supports several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being), Goal 4 (Quality Education), and Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
