Two faculty members from the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences for Women at the University of Baghdad, Prof. Dr. Aseel Jaleel and Lect. Dr. Hind Salem Taih took part in the judging committee of the University of Baghdad’s Third International Road Race Forum held under the slogan (Love and Peace).

The event was organized by the Department of Student Activities at the University of Baghdad and attracted broad participation from Arab and international sports teams, as well as Iraqi universities. The forum’s activities were marked by a competitive yet disciplined and enthusiastic atmosphere that embodied the spirit of athletic and academic cooperation among participants.

Approximately 650 students representing 87 public and private universities from across Iraq participated in the marathon. The event also welcomed international students from Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Yemen, and Nigeria, highlighting its global dimension and supporting the goals of the (Study in Iraq) program, which aims to promote cultural exchange and student integration.

At the conclusion of the event, Dr. Ali Sadiq Thiyab, Director of the Department of Student Activities, announced the race results. The University of Karbala won first place, followed by Al-Mustansiriyah University in second place, while the University of Baghdad secured third place. Awards and appreciation shields were presented to the winning teams and participating delegations in a celebratory atmosphere that reflected the spirit and message of the forum.

This event aligns with the University of Baghdad’s commitment to promoting the values of brotherhood and tolerance among nations through sports, reaffirming its mission to support peace and sustainable development.

The activity contributes to several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including Goal 3: Good Health and Well-Being, Goal 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions, and Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
