The Athletics Team of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences for Women at the University of Baghdad achieved outstanding results at the Fifth Annual Athletics Festival for Iraqi colleges and universities, held at Al-Kifl Olympic Stadium and organised by the University of Al-Hilla, with the participation of 23 public and private universities.
Under the supervision of the coaches, Lect. Dr Hind Salem Tayeh and Asst. Lect. Zahraa Hazem, the team secured second place in the 100-meter women’s event and third place in the 4×100-meter women’s relay.
The festival was organised under the patronage of Prof. Dr Aqeel Al-Saadi, President of the University of Al-Hilla, and under the direct supervision of the Dean of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, Dr Ali Al-Hasnawi. The competitions were held in an ideal atmosphere that reflected the spirit of cooperation and integration among academic institutions. The Dean emphasised that the festival was not merely a sporting event, but a genuine platform for strengthening relationships and building bridges of communication among students and Iraqi universities.

At the conclusion of the festival, the organisers expressed their sincere appreciation to the participating universities for their sportsmanship and fair competition, congratulated the winners, and reaffirmed that sport will always remain a bridge for peace and joint action, and a platform for promoting the values of cooperation and creativity in the service of our students, universities, and home.
This festival contributes to achieving one of the Sustainable Development Goals, specifically Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
