The head of the University Psychological Counseling Unit, Lect. Dr. Hind Salem Taih participated in the First International Conference titled (Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance in an Era of Transformation – Challenges and Solutions – Peace and Strong Institutions).
The event was organized by the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences – University of Diyala during the period 19–20 November 2025, under the supervision of the University President, Prof. Tahseen Hussein Mubarak, with the participation of several university council members, academic and security figures, and a distinguished group of researchers and specialists.
In his opening remarks, the University President emphasized the crucial role of psychological counseling and educational guidance in strengthening students’ self-confidence and preparing them to acquire scientific and specialized skills by supporting their activities and guiding them toward building resilient personalities capable of facing contemporary challenges.
He also urged all professionals in psychological counseling at the University of Diyala to enhance their educational and humanitarian roles and to provide high-quality services that support students’ psychological, academic, and social well-being.
The conference program included the screening of a documentary film highlighting the college’s activities and achievements, along with the presentation of a success story of an individual who overcame addiction. A discussion session was also held with the Arab and world champion Najla Emad, who spoke about her athletic journey and international accomplishments.
The conference aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-Being). It fosters a positive intellectual environment that promotes students’ mental resilience and enhances their ability to engage constructively within the university community and beyond.
